How to Price Your 3D Prints

Stop guessing. This formula works.

The Pricing Formula

Price = Material Cost + Machine Cost + Labor + Profit

1. Material Cost

Weight of filament (g) × price per gram. PLA is about $25/kg = $0.025/g.

2. Machine Cost

Printer cost ÷ expected lifespan (hours) × print time. ~$0.20-0.50/hour.

3. Labor

Post-processing time × your hourly rate. Don't forget this!

4. Profit

Add 30-50% on top. You're running a business, not a charity.

Quick example

A 50g Benchy: $1.25 material + $0.40 machine + $2 labor = $3.65. Add 40% = $5.11. Round to $5.
