Four marketplaces, four different personalities. Here's how they compare on price, quality, protection and ease of use for international buyers.

2 · Set up your account & app

Each platform has its own setup process. Select your platform below for step-by-step instructions.

Step-by-step walkthrough

Follow these six steps for your first order — from account creation to a parcel at your door.

1. Create your account

Start with Taobao — it has the best buyer protection and an international-friendly signup. The app and website support an English interface.

Pro tip An Alipay account linked to your Taobao profile unlocks "Alipay Global" — an international payment option accepted in 200+ countries that works with non-Chinese cards.

2. Set up payment

You have three practical options, from easiest to most flexible:

Never send money off-platform If a seller asks you to pay via direct bank transfer, cryptocurrency or any private link — that's a scam. Always pay inside the platform so buyer protection applies.

3. Choose a freight forwarder

Most Chinese sellers won't ship overseas directly. A freight forwarder gives you a mainland China warehouse address; the seller ships there, and the forwarder sends your package to your country.

Filament shipping tip Filament is dense and heavy per kg. For 10+ spools, sea or line-haul freight can cut your shipping cost per spool by half or more.

4. Pick verified sellers

Not all shops are equal. Use this checklist before you hit "Buy":

5. Place your order

Set the forwarder's warehouse address as the delivery address, pay inside the platform, and keep your order number. Sellers typically dispatch within 48 hours, most within 24.

6. Track and receive

Once the seller marks the parcel "shipped", the forwarder's warehouse will receive and weigh it (usually 1–3 days). You then declare the items, pay the forwarder's international shipping fee, and track it with a code like 17TRACK.

Total timeline for a first order Setup (1–2 hrs) → seller dispatch (1–2 days) → domestic delivery to warehouse (2–3 days) → international shipping (7–25 days) → local delivery (2–5 days). Budget ~2–4 weeks door-to-door, and you'll often beat that.
